How to Kick Start Your Day – 3 Super Quick & Easy Things to Do Every Morning

Did you know that lemons are a powerful detoxifier and alkalizer? It's best to drink a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and wait a good 20 minutes before drinking or eating anything else. My mornings can be pretty busy, so more often than not I've skipped the lemon water and headed straight towards the coffee machine. So here's what I've started doing; The evening before steep organic lemons and fresh ginger (ginger is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants and digestive aid) in hot water for a good 20 minutes (if you don't like ginger you can leave it out.) I keep a glass on my nightstand so that the first thing I do is drink it before I get moving in the morning.

After my lemon water I spend a few minutes reading something inspiring. Keep that book right beside your lemon water, make it easy on yourself. Sometimes you might read a sentence, other times maybe a page. It doesn't take much and you'll soon start to notice how this changes your entire outlook.

Visualize and set intention. A most powerful practise to develop. Take a few minutes in quiet to bring your attention to what it is you would like to create for yourself. How would you like your day to go? Your week? Your year? I actually made up a new vision board last weekend and I have that in my view every morning before rising. It keeps my vision alive, I find imagery especially helpful in staying connected to my dreams. Intention is the first step in creating the life you desire and if we're not clear about what we want, how on earth can expect anything different than what we are already getting?

So there you have it, a little something for the body, mind and soul. All easily accomplishable in 20 minutes or less and a great way to kick-start your day. Powerful habits are built on repetition. I'm all about making things easy and attainable, who knows once you're in the swing of things you may decide to add a little meditation in there? We've all got to start somewhere!
